Greetings All! We have arrived at the beginning of Summer in the North. Warmth and Sun, all things are growing and blooming, fruits and vegetables are on the way, all that wonderful Mead you have brewed is good to go now and festival time is here! It’s time for me to offer you my latest installment of astrology for pagans.
As summer deepens, the days get shorter yet hotter, for a while. Today’s chart shows it.
At the top is Jupiter and the North Node aligning with the Mid-Heaven, the final expression of the chart. Positive movement connected to the “soul expression” of the chart. The Sun and Mercury are in the 11th, home of friendship and connecting with those around us. The Moon is tucked into the 12th, a bit “hidden” though it is about to conjunct with the Ascendant, then Venus and Mars! Looks like a party to me!
Only Saturn and Pluto are retrograde; pointing to lessons to be learned, but that’s OK. There is a lot of dynamic energy in this chart, all roughly centered around the Sun.
Final notes: three of the biggies changed signs recently; Saturn into Pisces on March 7, Pluto into Aquarius on March 23, Jupiter into Taurus on May 16. All of these will greatly flavor the signs they went into. There will be stresses and benefits, as usual. All signs are affected though.
And now, for something a bit different, let me introduce you to Loke E. Coyote, one of pagan music’s most irreverant and amusing bands. Here’s a little ditty regarding what he did on his summer vacation. Just the thing for the festival season! Enjoy!
I went to a gathering
“What I Did On My Summer Vacation” by Loke E. Coyote, from the album “Rhythms of Spring” ℗ 1999 Wiccabilly Circus
with seven hundred Pagans
I went to a gathering
with seven hundred Pagans
danced around the fire, played my drum
got painted up
went swimmin, had sex, drank mead and got naked
(not necessarily in that order)
As usual, don’t believe a word of this, unless it makes sense to you. Do think about it all though. Readings are for now through to Mabon in the Fall. I move the Ascendant though the chart for each sign, making it an Ascendant reading. Your milage may vary. If you know your Moon and Ascendant, it helps! Have fun with it!
Astrology for Summer, 2023: readings
Aries
The party with Mars, Venus and the Moon will be a lovely affair for Litha. Hmmm, I wonder what form this may take. I think I see a gathering of folks who are there to enjoy what you have to offer. If you are an artist that would make a lot of sense! Creation is, after all, the gift of the Gods. What you create and share would be joyous. “All Acts of Love and Pleasure.”
Taurus
The North node of the Moon is right there at your beginning, along with Jupiter. That’s very auspicious. All that energy is compatible with your Venus in an earthy sort of way. This is a time of seeing your future. The Node points to the future and it’s pointing at you. The square from Pluto just puts pressure on you to make it real. The sextile from Saturn makes it loving.
Gemini
Mercury is at home now in Gemini but not for long. After having a retrograde period just before Litha, He shoots ahead and by August he will be well into Virgo when he finally does a retrograde and stays there through to Mabon. He’s moving! Kind of like you; a million ideas and all over the map. You are the mover and thinker of the Zodiac. Sharing.
Cancer
Happy birthday, Cancer! The Sun slipping into Cancer shows the change from pure thought to nourishment and caring. The two are not incompatible but there are differences. Cancer, ruled by the Moon, can be dreamy and wanting to “make it right” for those around. The Sun will take on some of that energy now. Saturn is now giving a good aspect to your sign. Easier focus. Do the work.
Leo
The sun now slips into the 12th. Now it wants to “hide” a bit, at least go into a shadow for rest and contemplation, yet the chart starts with Leo now; more action and talk. The Moon in Leo (now in the 1st) contributes a LOT to that. Emotions push sound farther. Be careful with pushing that energy. Pluto is opposing your sign. The big guy is watching you. Keep it clean.
Virgo
Your planet Mercury is in your 10th house now, really looking to be the boss. Your skill in communicating will be highlighted now. You have the chops. As an added note, Jupiter and Uranus are both in Taurus, showering you with good vibes. This is coming from your 9th house of aspiration and study. There will be something unexpected coming your way. It will be good!
Libra
Your Venus is right in mid sign in Leo, between the Moon and Mars. I would like to think that that could be a love fest, as it’s also in your 11th house of friends. At least a joyous, heartfelt meeting. Pluto, who actually slips back out of Aquarius on Litha, is still nicely aspecting your sign. Still, good grounding with that. Let him.
Scorpio
The South Node of the Moon is at the beginning of Scorpio and will cross over into Libra in July. Your sense of “being in the right place” is at a head until then. Your planet Pluto is squaring your sign and dancing between Capricorn and Aquarius now and will continue into 2024 when it goes full steam ahead. This may feel like a time of having to come to terms.
Sagittarius
Saturn is widely squaring your sign from Pisces. Jupiter and Pluto are aspecting you also! That’s a lot of energy coming at you from the big guys. May be a bit tense. You normally like it light and fun but somehow, this looks different, at least for now. You know you can be up for this too. You are also a wise philosopher. The sky looks like your friend.
Capricorn
Pluto’s dance is just finishing up unfinished business with you. By November 2024 He will be in Aquarius for about 19 years. Whatever you have going on now will be cleared out and you can move ahead with those things you have held back on, hopefully positive moves in your life. The world is changing as we speak. Be part of that change.
Aquarius
Pluto is dipping into your sign then backing out a couple of times before it stays, in November 2024. That looks like a lot of preparation for a long, eventful visit. This very possibly is the beginning of the “Age of Aquarius.” Big changes, shaking the roots of society. Afterwards, your life may look very different from what it does now. Think A.I.; Computers were just the beginning.
Pisces
Your deep soul now has Saturn to contend with. Maybe it feels like a struggle? Hopefully it’s more of a need to discipline yourself in how you go about viewing life and your response to things. I think that would be the high road to take. The universe doesn’t really punish us like that, but it does reward for acquiring wisdom. You have that already.
