Coming of Age Rites

One of the most meaningful rites of passage is the rite marking the transition from child to adult. Most traditional cultures have puberty rites that are accompanied by clear changes of status within the community. In industrialized cultures, getting a driver’s license, graduating high school and getting drunk for the first time can all serve as rites of passage into adulthood. In the pagan community, we strive to provide a more meaningful ritual to honor a person stepping into adulthood.

The song You’re a Woman Now was created for the menarche rite of passage for young women. A song for the transition from boyhood to manhood will appear on a future album.
