This is a song by Alane Crowomyn. It’s an autobiographical account of what happened to Alane when she prayed to the Goddess for a pagan lover. This cute song always gets a laugh from pagan audiences. It features Alane on lead vocals, with angel voices by Deb and Laura, and Tara on ukulele. Alane also performs a version of this song in her solo act called Bring me a Musician, which is, unfortunately, also true.
This song is track 9 on our album Pantheon: Honoring the Pagan Divine. The whole album is available for sale here on Bandcamp, and this song can also be purchased as an individual digital download.
Bring Me a Pagan Man was sponsored by Bob Sunde because he thinks it’s the funniest thing he’s heard in years, and he’s a Pagan man, even.
Lyrics
Oh, Goddess, bring me a pagan man
I just want a pagan man
We’d make the magic of blade and cup
great rite each time that we made love
Oh, bring me a pagan man, Fa la la
And I found the pagan man this prayer did elicit
After that experience, my prayers became more specific
Oh, Goddess; bring me a pagan man with a job
I just want a pagan man with a job
We’d make the magic of blade and cup
great rite each time that we made love
Oh, bring me a pagan man with a job, Ffa la la
And I found the pagan man this prayer did elicit
After that experience, my prayers became more explicit
Oh, Goddess; bring me a pagan man with a job and a car
I just want a pagan man with a job and a car
We’d make the magic of blade and cup
great rite each time that we made love
Oh, bring me a pagan man with a job and a car, Fa la la
And I found the pagan man this prayer did elicit
After that experience, my prayers became even more explicit
Oh, Goddess; bring me a pagan man with a job and a car, who can commit
I just want a pagan man with a job and a car, who can commit
We’d make the magic of blade and cup
great rite each time that we made love
Oh, bring me a pagan man with a job and a car, who can commit to me, Fa la la
And yet this romance fell apart
And yet again, he broke my heart
I said, “Oh, Goddess I give up
Why can’t I find a pagan love…with a job with benefits, and a car that runs, who can commit to a long-term serious relationship, and who loves me, preferably as a primary partner?”
Will I ever find the magic of blade and cup
great rite sometimes when we make love? Fa la la!
Goddess, I turn it over to you, I will not specify
What my love must have or do or be to qualify
Goddess, I trust your wisdom to know what makes love true
But please, won’t you try to hurry it up because my soulmate needs me, too
Maybe I am their prayer to you
