Fringe TV

Life at Fringe TV

Does pagan television exist within our community? It certainly does, and without the Hollywood undertones. There are a few pagan themed television stations streaming and available in 2023. However, in this article I want to talk about Fringe TV, the oldest pagan television network by pagans in the world. And, how I went from being a small-time pagan musician to its managing director.

Fringe TV was started in July of 2015 as a teaching platform under the direction of The Circle of Ancient Sisters. It has run 365 days a year, 24/7 since its inception. The Circle of Ancient Sisters is a non-profit religious organization. They publish “The Witch’s Brew magazine”, operate “WCAS-db The Cauldron Radio”, and own Fringe TV.

Pagan Music Changed my Life

To take on these kinds of responsibilities has been stressful and challenging. Not only am I responsible for searching for valuable content, but also have to mediate through the various factions within the pagan community by remaining unbiased while treating everyone fairly.

In almost an instant I became a figurehead of pagan standing. I can remember a time when I was a prisoner, contemplating Doreen Valente’s famous Charge of the Goddess. She says; “Forever strive towards your highest ideals”. I took this as becoming the best me. To be the best version of myself. Shockingly, I first found my highest ideal thinking while in a United States penitentiary.

This reminds me today of something Stewart and Janet Farrar taught the world; “To learn, you must first learn to suffer”. Is not learning what the pagan path is all about? My own learning was first shared with others through the voices of pagan hip hop and contemporary pagan folk music. Pagan hip hop? Yes, pagan rap is a thing within the pagan community. I have disassociated from the negativity of the mainstream genre. My music is a spiritual platform promoting positive change. It ultimately landed me Best Male Artist of the Year, an award bestowed on me by the International Pagan Music Association in 2022.

In addition to pagan music, Monica and I started out podcasting in late 2021, interviewing pagan elders and leaders, pagan musicians, pagan authors, and individuals within the eccentric earth-based community that make positive differences to the pagan community. In July of 2022, I became the manager of Fringe TV. I appointed my partner, Monica Marie Smith, as my assistant.

In the scope and management of Fringe TV, this servitude has continued for Monica and I. In addition to a service to the community, it has also served me personally as I have been able to learn from many leaders around the globe. I take pride as the seeker. Not a seeker of a tradition per se, a seeker of the craft itself.

One thing that I have learned within the scope of pagan media is the consumerist values that trickle over to the various organizations within the craft. In my opinion, this is a result of the remnants of Judaic rule. I feel our spirituality is of spirit and not of money. Another thing I have noticed is how some of the pagan community constantly focuses on money and pyramid schemes. Have we lost our environmental flare? Have we lost our spirituality?

The Fringe TV Archive

Fringe TV has compiled historic archived video footage of Gerald Gardner, Raymond Buckland, Patricia Crowther, Maxine Sanders, Sybil Leek, Alex Sanders, the Frosts, Carl Jung, Aleister Crowley, Doreen Valiente, and shamanistic earth-based leaders around the world, including many that are unknown to the public.

With archived media a broad array of discrepancies come up, like what this pagan leader did or did not do, etc. Although Fringe TV does not agree with some of the actions of our early pagan leaders, the historical significance is important and we feel a media archive is necessary to document pagan history. We understand the axiom that the winners of history get to write it. With the inquisition within our history the truth must be preserved and not erased. This is in part the mission of Fringe TV. In addition, Fringe TV will never claim to be the voice of the pagan community. Our motto is that you are!

Watch Movies on Fringe TV

Movies are played on Fringe TV at 2am, 12pm, 5pm, and 10pm to break up the bombardment of non-stop pagan education. Current movies include films like The Wicker Man, spin offs from the Harry Potter series, and plenty of nostalgic horror movies to curl up to late in the evening.

Pagan MTV

Pagan television, by pagan people, is a new development within the pagan community. In our community we have our bards, performing at our festivals, uploading to distrokid and CD baby and funneling to Bandcamp. And let’s face it, the Bards got to eat. There seems to be a thin line between pagan music promotion and sales. It sways and levers, nonetheless. In terms of accessibility, Fringe TV has created the world’s first Pagan music video spotlight with host Lord Alexian to recognize the greatest bards of our time. Monday-Friday from 8am-9am, Fringe TV plays the pagan music matinee displaying the hottest and newest pagan songs that have accompanied videos to further complement their music. Fringe TV has also been on site at some of the pagan festivals in America to record a few live shows. This type of coverage surely has a future within the Fringe TV infrastructure.

Monica and I saw a need for some the pagan music artists needing videos for their art. This need resulted in the birth of Constellation Artist Productions (CAPI) that was launched in late December of 2022. The first pagan artists to be aided by the new pagan owned service were 2023 International Pagan Music Associated nominee Gayla Soldano and Jon Martin Anastasio.
