Astrology for Winter, 2024

Greetings fellow Pagans, musicians, and anyone else who enjoys these pages! Merry Yule to all! Believe it or not, there is some very fine astrology coming up this year. Beginning a bit before now, a rather amazing, not seen often at all, is a planet structure (see chart) that will be active for several years actually.

To begin with, Pluto has now moved into Aquarius for the next 20 years. Think of Pluto, in this context, as a great power to bring depth and character to all who choose to work with it. It may be a matter of Pluto proving to be a challenge to be met. How else would we know it, and have it do its work in the world if it was not a challenge?

But then, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, plod along but towards a rather amazing sight. By early July, all these will have moved into new signs. Saturn and Neptune conjunct in Aries (that alone is a big deal) and Uranus will be fresh and (conjunct Venus) in Gemini. All the outers, from Saturn on, will be in positive air and fire signs. That’s where the action will happen! There will be a trine between Uranus to Pluto; Saturn and Neptune will sextile both of those. These aspects will play around the beginnings of the houses until 2026, then go fully in.

All in all, I would expect this to be a propitious time in world affairs.

So, why the hell is Donald Trump going to be President again, with his chaos agenda, destroying and stealing as much as he can, again, from our country?

I have looked and watched and listened to other astrologers and what they have to say. Seems to be some confusion around all this. Several people suggest that the election was somehow stolen; we just have to dig enough to reveal that. Some say that space buddies will show up and make him pay for his crimes (seems a bit farfetched but who knows?). Some just say “Praise be! Our savior DJT is here!”

I, and others as well, will do what we must. I know some who are planning leaving the country. I wish them well. While I would love the opportunity to take a 4 year vacation in Europe, most can’t. However, what we can do is hunker down. Use our cloaking magick to disguise our true nature from those who would harm us. “We are not the droids you seek.”

Please be aware of all those who cannot hide so well, those who, just by their natures, stand out, whether it is skin color, sexual orientation, whatever the beautiful difference is, do what you can, be a beacon for them in the dark. We can all get through this!

Organize! There are others who, too, are working for a better place. Together, we can do this spell. Just like in other “dark times,” we will survive and thrive, and stay alive.

Also, think about it. How can resistance rise without something to resist? The game is on!

I was remembering a phrase from somewhere. Not sure. Asked MS-CoPilot who did not know of any sure source, but agreed it was appropriate for our time.

“Do not regret that we live in an age of dragons. Rejoice that we are raising children (and perhaps have been raised ourselves) as dragon slayers.”

A modern saying that emphasizes resilience and hope. It suggests that while we may face significant challenges (symbolized by dragons), we should take pride in preparing the next generation to overcome these obstacles. We must also prepare ourselves as well! focusing on the potential for growth and triumph in the face of adversity.”

On another note, after this Yule, I will be doing the column on the cross-quarter days! Next up will be Imbolc, then Beltane, Lughnasa, and Samhain! The party holidays! (Aren’t they all?)

Astrology for Yule, 2024: readings

Aries

Your guy, Mars, is backing up into an opposition to Pluto, new in Aquarius. That can be an indication of possible anger, violence. This ties into the American chart (Sibley chart for those interested) and where Pluto was then and now! Now and again in April there are flashpoints. I say this because Aries are known as firebrands!

Taurus

Interesting to see Uranus still in Taurus. It was not known when the country was founded. Discovered in 1781, now seen as the harbinger of revolution and change. To wit, Am. Rev., French Rev., Haitian Rev., New Granada (Colombia) Rev. Busy time! All for overthrowing dictators and slavery. How’s that for an inheritance? Good thing you tend to be calm and even tempered. Uranus will move out by summer.

Gemini

Uranus will start being in Gemini by summer. In, out, in, out. The usual. But that will make it feel exciting. At last, something to spark! You are usually lively on your own. Uranus is a higher expression of Mercury in some ways. Communication but more in intuitive flashes. Until then, Pluto’s trine to you will be push enough.

Cancer

Your sign is squaring the Nodes now for a short while. That feeling of being between worlds can be real. Being pretty nourishing as a soul, you might feel like you really must reach out and feed the past and the future. The ghosts of the past may be beyond your reach. The spirit of the future is right here and now, in just a second. We all need nourishment for the future.

Leo

Mars is lighting up your sign now! It will retrograde back into Cancer soon, then go direct about the middle of February, then come back by April. Kind of typical of Mars. But the thing is Mars will be opposing Pluto now and when it comes back in April. That can be tense times. Mars and Pluto are rough combos. Careful who you piss off. Could escalate!

Virgo

Your guy Mercury is having a fine time in Sagittarius now. Loves it there. Big talk, hanging out with the big shot in the Solar system. And it’s running opposite Jupiter, the ruler of Sag. Smack talk across the chart for now. Oh well, we all have fun times. He will move on to Capricorn and get serious again. And that’s OK. Precise, exact. The way you like it.

Libra

The transiting South Node of the Moon is about to finish in Libra, then move on to Virgo. This is the connection to past Karma. Those who have connections there will feel like there is an old debt, old score to settle, someone to meet up with again to resolve things. If you have something in early Libra, this is a fine time to be aware of those things. Write a lovely song for them.

Scorpio

Your planet, Pluto, is squaring your sign right now at the beginning of Aquarius. That is kind of like the silent dark stranger in the corner giving you the eye. Good? Bad? Evil? No, just a level, deep look into your soul, asking “So, what you done with your time so far? Made effective use of it or pissed it away? Why? No excuses accepted, only truth.” Pluto is a tough customer. He will offer riches for the good, honest answer, but for nothing less.

Sagittarius

The big guy (Jupiter) is in your opposite sign and will continue on into June 2025. So that’s kind of the boss looking through the window to watch you. Involved but there is a distance. He is talking to Mercury, in your sign now, and the talk is high and impressive sounding. But what they all want is growth, learning, and traveling! You know, your favorite things!

Capricorn

Happy birthday, Capricorn! Lucky you! Pluto has now left your sign for a long while! Also, you have a trine to Uranus coming up within a month. That feels electric and exciting. On another note, right now your Sun is squaring the Moon’s nodes. That is adding a feeling between the past and the future, which we always are. The next few days may feel like a way station.

Aquarius

The focus is SO on you and Pluto being in Aquarius now for the next 20 years or so. The pressure is on you to come to terms with all this. This is a huge growing period for you. Humanity depends on you to do the right thing. Stand up for those who cannot stand. Protect all. Live with love as your guiding principle. That is the Hight Road. The last time this happened, a very famous document opened with, “We, the People.”

Pisces

Pisces is known as a watery, emotional sign. But do not think it is weak! Water wears down everything! The Taoists know this well. Soft, yielding, yet wins in the end. As Neptune begins its exit from Pisces this year, it is purifying the path, leading Saturn on the path, running with the North Node of destiny, showing the path.
