girl woman rite of passage

You’re A Woman Now

Credits:

This song honors a young woman at her coming of age. The singers are Alane, Carole, Deb, Donna, Judith, Marilyn, Melanie, Molly, Shannon and Tara, with percussion by Charlie. The song was written by Alane Crowomyn for the “girls’ rite”, a menarche ceremony held at Dragonfest, a Colorado pagan festival. It was a great honor to offer a part of that all-night rite of passage with this song. We hope you will use it to honor the young women in your life at this turning point in their lives. Lyrics:

Woman, woman, you’re a woman now
Woman, woman, you’re a woman now
You are sacred woman, woman
We are your mothers
We honor you
In your new freedoms and responsibilities

Woman, woman, you’re a woman now
Woman, woman, you’re a woman now
Trust your wisdom, woman, woman
We are your fathers
We honor you
In your new freedoms and responsibilities

Woman, woman, you’re a woman now
Woman, woman, you’re a woman now
Walk your own path, woman, woman
We are your circle
We honor you
Stand as the maiden, hold now her divinity
Woman, woman, woman, woman
Woman, woman, woman, woman
