earth mother goddess

Magurkh, Earth Mother

Credits:

Carole Crowwomyn wrote Magurkh, Earth Mother as part of a year during which she was dedicated to the element of earth. Magurkh is our local goddess of the earth, discovered by the Crow Women through ecomancy. Donna Crowwoman sings lead on the verses, with the band joining her on the chorus. This song can be purchased from us–it’s track 10 on the album Crow Magic.

Lyrics:

Raucous crows wheel and spin
Above the greening earth
Gather twigs and weave them in
Ready for rebirth.

Chorus:
Magurkh, Magurkh, Earth Mother
Mountain Mother, canyon mother
Tumbling stream, roaring river mother
Tall tree mother, wildflower mother
Magurkh!

Spotted fawns jump and run,
Across the mountain meadow
Guarded by the Horned One,
Standing in the shadows
(chorus)

Ancient rainbow in the brook,
Flashing in the shallows;
Never fooled by line or hook,
Glides beneath the willows.
(chorus)

I am fortunate to live on several acres of land in the hills outside my hometown, and enjoy a buffer zone of privacy in all directions from my house. I have created four altars...
