Hail Hekate

Credits

Born of the annual Torch and Key Retreat at Ardantane, Hail, Hekate is a hymn, a processional, a chant to one of our favorite goddesses. Imagine yourself cloaked in black and silver, chatelaine of keys at your side, torch held aloft as you lead the procession to Her sacred crossroads.

This song is by Tara Kreauweaumonn. All of the currently active Crow Women sing in this recording. It begins with Tara’s voice as a solo. Then, Carole joins her, and then the full chorus, with harmony lines added successively by Laura, Marilyn, Deb and Alane. The percussion is by Echo Nightfire (Issa). This song is track 8 on our album Pantheon: Honoring the Pagan Divine. The whole album is available for sale here on Bandcamp, and this song can also be purchased as an individual digital download.

Hail Hekate was sponsored by Kathryn Probasco in honor of Hekate Herself, with thanks for her presence at many of life’s crossroads.

Lyrics

Hail Hekate, Hekate
Hail, Hekate
Hail Hekate, Hekate
Hail Hekate

(Hail Hekate, Hail)

I am a Priestess of the Goddess
I hold her Torch and Key
Midwife from birth until dying
She walks with me

I am a Priest of the Goddess
Her magick beckons me
I’ll meet her there at the crossroads
One forged in three.

Faces of Hekate

I love the lead-up to Samhain. I can dress as witchy as I want and fit right in with the Muggles celebrating Halloween. As Jon mentioned in his astrololgy post last week, even though most people celebrate Samhain and Halloween on October 31, the actual cross-quarter day is November 6...
