Reflections in the Snow

” … sometimes reflecting on the past is like trying to see reflections in the snow.” Brian Henke

Here I am at the beginning of my 7th decade and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s not yet time to go towards that particular white light though. I think I can wait. There is still so very much to do.

I am amazed at how much is crammed into my head, the weight of the years on my soul and the lightness of being able to let go of so much, too.

My memory has never been very good and it’s not getting any better, so sometimes reflecting on the past is like trying to see reflections in the snow.

Remembering songs is not getting any easier either. Revisiting an old favorite of mine is quite often like learning a really difficult song written by someone else.

Christmas is Coming

As I write this particular blog, Christmas is coming up soon. I should have had all of my Christmas songs relearned by now, but I’m just getting started.

I’m playing a multi-artist concert coming up on December 7th called “John Lennon Remembered” and it features all Beatles songs, many of which I of course, am struggling to relearn. I’m working feverishly on Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds more later tonight after this blog is finished.

New Music for the New Year

I’m also recording and remixing two complete double albums due for release in the coming year…48 songs. Most of them new and many revisited.

Here are a few new songs I haven’t really shared yet…and a few remixes too.

This coming year will mark the 25th anniversary of The Woodchopper’s Ball, a benefit concert for the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless, that I have been running/promoting/booking now for all 25 of its years.

It features 9 of the very best, most award-winning guitarists anywhere and has been a whole lot of work that has been so very much more than worth it every year.

Touring 2026: To the Faire

To the Faire by Brian Henke

I am now finished with all of my long distance touring for the year and am really looking forward to having the time and hopefully energy, to get all that I want to do before touring season starts again in 2026.

I’ve found myself somehow as Artist Liaison and part of the programming committee for the Starwood Festival and Entertainment Director for Free Spirit Gathering, Autumn Fires and for the first time, Wisteria’s Summer Solstice Community Weekend, and The Winfield Arts and Humanities Mini-Music Fest in Winfield, Kansas. Yeah…Whew!

Wisteria by Brian Henke

You all can count on me playing a LOT of shows, releasing LOTS of new music, recording new music of my own and producing/recording for others too in 2026.
