Spring Transitions: Crone to Maiden

As we cross over the Spring Equinox, where the wheel turns and the Child of Light becomes the Prince of the Forest, the Lover of the Earth, He finds Himself in the arms of the Maiden. The shadows of the Crone have faded in the balanced day of Light and Dark.

All that was, forms all that is. All that is, forms all that will be. It is so with the Goddess and Her Consort. No matter where the wheel of the year starts, it always turns into a new beginning.

How does this happen?

With the dawn of Imbolc, the first break in the ice of Winter can be heard for those that listen. The cracking and splintering sets up a steady rhythm by which Nature moves in Her dance to bring forth new life into the warming sun to flourish throughout the land.

We Pagans are many of those that can hear and move in Her footsteps.

These past two months, as we moved from the skin-shedding year of the Wood Snake to the full gallop forward of the Fire Horse, many of us experienced dramatic change.

Old programming that had been haunting our spirits had become brittle, painful and constricting.

We found ourselves ripping off these old scales and standing naked in the cold half light of a thawing freeze.

We have now become awakened.

When we hear the crack of Imbolc, we are inspired to be reborn.

Moving warms the body. Creativity thaws the spirit.

We are the Crone, coming out into the first ray of sunlight.

We have protected and carried our precious inner Light like a bundled newborn through the sleeping Death of Winter.

Now, it is time to unwrap our Child and play.

The Power of Rebirth

The strength of Youth is a powerful magic.

It is nigh to impossible for a receptive soul to not become affected by the radiance of real, untainted innocence.

To behold the birth of any kind of life echoes through our spirit, finding the matching vitality there to bring forward into our hearts and minds.

A new blade of grass, a sleepy frog coming out from its hibernation, the first buds on the tree; they all stir the energy of rebirth within us.

With the first touch of warm spring air, we are transformed from our aged and crippled journey through the obstructing forests of our lives.

Our souls are strengthened.

We become supple and bend to the breeze.

We breathe in the vitality, allowing it to course through us, stirring the blood and moving us to dance with wind.

The Crone has transformed into the Maiden.

She now has all the strength and energy to continue caring for the Child of Light as He grows into the Consort.

Within this transformation, we Pagans find the ability to support, interact, and play with our inner Child; our Light Within.

We now have all the resources we need for sustenance, pleasure, and growth.

We have endured enough.

We can move forward with the excitement and confidence of a long-stabled horse finally released out from the barn into the melting snow.

Fear Not

This is not the time to be fearful or hesitant.

Use your renewed, youthful spirit to forge forward towards the forgotten, damaged dreams of your inner truths. The Magic of the Maiden feeds the Consort of the Earth.

Reclaim what was lost in your past years of journey when the needs and demands of the outer world compromised and over-shadowed your true nature and design.

This is the boon of Spring, from Nature Herself.

She provides the energy of change for all of us to redesign, remake and create anew all of our basic structure to honour and better represent the magnificent spirits of magical creation that we all are.

Care for your Inner Elements:

Air: Thaw the Ice that froze you against the world’s harshness. Breathe in deeply of the new spring air.

Fire: Warm the Blood of your body. Move out into your surrounding environment and take note of all that is coming out to join you.

Water: Run it through your Bones. Let your blood be soaked up into your core and feel it coursing through every part of your body.

Earth: Wrap those bones in the new Life that is in every new cell generated in you. Feel the strength of these young cells as they fuel your energy and magic which has always been yours through the birthright of Humanity.

Now, your Soul will move forward into the coming year to grow, prosper, gain fulfillment and then yield a healthy, sustaining harvest for the returning Winter.

Transform as is Your Design and Destiny

We can do this.

We Pagans are blessed with the understanding that to transform is to thrive.

We allow ourselves to intertwine with the Lifeforce around us.

As it shifts, changes and evolves, we have the awareness and ability to change with it.

All that makes us into what we are can exist in a constant state of evolution.

Everything we were forms what we are, which becomes what we will be.

As long as we shed our old skins and break off the ice that formed on us while we moved so slowly through our darker, colder season, we can continue to thrive and gain strength and power.

“Thou art God, Thou art Goddess”

Step into the new sunlight.

Pull back the wrapping on your inner Child.

Let its magic revitalize you and transform you into the young, fearless youth that holds all your dreams and purpose, both Maiden and Lover.

Winter to Spring, from Crone to Maiden, from Child to Prince, your Lifeforce moves as all.

Your Lifeforce will never die.

It will always transform.

You control how it changes with the choices that you make.

The closer you move with Life’s Wheel, the better you comprehend those choices.

Imbolc: Snow & Bone

Ice to Blood, and Blood to Bone,
And Bone to Life and Soul!
Water, Fire, Earth and Air
Unite to make us Whole!

Rise and fall and rise again
For so the Wheel turns!
Darkness fades and Light pervades
When Spirit Fire burns!
