One of the most powerful things about Pagan music is that it was never meant to live only on a stage, in a recording studio, or inside a pair of headphones.
At its heart, Pagan music is communal. It is meant to be sung in circles, chanted around fires, drummed beneath the stars, whispered as prayer, offered as spellwork, and shared from one heart to another. Bardic circle is people remembering that magick is not something we watch from a distance, it is something we create together.
The Cool Kats Community Bardic Circles
That spirit is the heart of the “Cool Kats Community” I have been building online for the past three years, especially through our live Bonfire Bardic Circles, which happen twice a month inside the free Paw Pal Circle.
Yes, free.
Room At the Fire
Anyone can join the Paw Pal Circle at www.AlexianMusic.com/paw and take part in these live online gatherings. Listeners are welcome. Performers are welcome. Shy folks are welcome. Seasoned Pagans are welcome, and brand-new seekers are welcome. If you have a song to sing, a chant to share, a poem to read, a drum to play, a story to tell, or even something magickal you simply want to show the group, there is room for you at the fire.
And what a wonderfully strange and beautiful fire it has become.
Over time, we have had singing, drumming, poetry, storytelling, puppetry, and show & tell moments featuring everything from crystal collections to handmade treasures. The circle is not limited to music in the narrow sense. It is bardic in the old sense: creative, magickal, expressive, and alive. It is about sharing the voice of the soul in whatever form it wants to take.
I am still waiting for the bellydancers to show up, though. Seriously. The virtual bonfire is ready for you.
Be Seen and Heard ‘Round the Fire
What makes these Bardic Circles so special is not just the performances. It is the feeling of truly seeing one another. In a world where so much of online life is filtered, rushed, and flattened into quick reactions, there is something deeply nourishing about gathering live on video chat with like-minded people, hearing real voices, seeing real faces, and sharing sacred time together.
For many Pagans, especially those who do not live in large metro areas, community can be hard to find. Not everyone has a local coven, a metaphysical shop nearby, a Pagan festival within driving distance, or a circle of friends who understand what it means to honor the seasons, work with energy, sing to the Gods, or feel the pull of the Moon.
That kind of isolation is real.
So the chance to meet up regularly with other Pagans online — not just by typing comments, but live, face to face, in real time — is not to be understated. It can be healing, empowering, and it can even mark a turning point in someone’s life. I have already witnessed positive changes in community members over the past three years: people opening up, gaining confidence, sharing more of themselves, making friends, and feeling less alone on the path.
That is magick.
The Bonfire Bardic Circle is not a polished concert. It is not a competition or about who has the best microphone, the fanciest lighting, or the most impressive performance skills. It is about presence, offering, and saying, “Here I am. Here is something from my heart.”
The Power of Listening
Sometimes that means a song. Sometimes it means a chant. Sometimes it means a poem, a drum rhythm, a story, or a simple moment of sharing. Sometimes the most powerful thing someone can do is simply show up, listen, and hold space for others.
Listeners are absolutely welcome.
That matters, because not everyone is ready to perform. Some people need to sit at the edge of the fire for a while before they feel ready to step forward. That is perfectly fine. In sacred community, witnessing is also participation.
The Heart of The Paw Pal Circle
While the Bardic Circles are the main heartbeat of the Paw Pal Circle, there are other things happening inside the Cool Kats Community as well. We have Monthly Pagan spirituality challenges, which are fun creative projects designed to help members explore their path, deepen their practice, and share their experiences with the group. Participation in the community earns points, whether you are commenting on someone’s post, showing up to live events, or completing challenges. Those points can later be cashed in for coupons toward my upcoming online courses in music education and metaphysics.
I also pull a Tarot Card of the Day and share a quick pre-recorded video each day, offering insight into the energies that seem to be flowing at the moment. It is a simple daily touchstone, but it gives the community another way to stay connected to spirit, intuition, and each other.
And did I mention there are monthly prizes for the most engaged member of the month? A prize is given out every month at the Pentacle Party, live online!
The Cool Kats Community
There are also higher-tiered Circles inside the Cool Kats Community for those who want to go deeper, with additional activities such as magickal craft nights, community sharing spaces, behind-the-scenes content, divination nights, meditation nights, and more. But the beautiful thing is that the core gathering space — including the Bonfire Bardic Circles — is available through the free Paw Pal Circle.
That is important to me.
Because music, magick, and community should not be locked away from the people who need them most.
The old bardic traditions were not just about entertainment. The bard carried memory, story, lineage, prayer, humor, history, and healing. The bard helped the people remember who they were. In our modern Pagan world, we need that more than ever. We need places where songs can be sung, stories can be shared, and people can remember that they are not walking this path alone.
A Place to Belong
That is what I hope the Bonfire Bardic Circles continue to become: a living online hearth for Pagan creativity.
A place to sing.
A place to listen.
A place to drum.
A place to laugh.
A place to share.
A place to be witnessed.
A place to belong.
So if you have been feeling isolated, or if you have been looking for a way to connect with other Pagans in a real and meaningful way, I invite you to join us.
Come as you are. Bring a song, a poem, a drum, a story, a puppet, a crystal, a chant, a prayer, or simply your listening heart.
