Let’s Go Down

Credits

Carole Crowwomyn created this “filk” song. The lyrics are her pagan adaptation of the traditional song; “Let’s Go Down to the River to Pray”. The track on Crow Goddess was recorded live at Covenant of the Goddess‘ Merrymeet gathering in 2005, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, by R. Coberly. Let’s Go Down is track 8 on Crow Goddess. You can purchase it here. Lead singers are Deb Kroehwimwin and Donna Crowwoman.

Lyrics:

Let’s go down to the river to pray
Bringing back that good old day
With drumming, feasting, love and song
All on Lammas (Beltane, Solstice…) day

Chorus:
Come on sisters (brothers), circle round
Circle on the sacred ground
Circle in the full moonlight
Calling the Goddess down

Let’s go out to the meadow to pray
Bringing back that good old way
With drumming, dancing with delight
Green man, show us the way

Let’s go up on the hill to pray
Bringing back those good old days
Sing praises under starry skies
Great Mother, show us the way

Let’s go down to the forest to pray
Bringing back those good old ways
And honoring the oak leaf crown
Green man, show us the way

Let’s go out in the desert to pray
Bringing back that good old way
In harshness of the cliffs and sky
Great Mother, show us the way
