We pause from providing you with fascinating posts from pagan musicians, for this Important Announcement.
Important Announcement
We are changing the way to subscribe to Pagan Song. From now on, that will be through Substack.
Please click through to our new feed on Substack and subscribe to the “Pagan Song Substack” https://pagansong.substack.com/
Why this is better for our free subscribers
The way we used to do subscriptions was using an app within the website that automatically sent out our post each week. It did a poor job. It stripped out the opening photo, removed random links, deleted some audio clips and dumped formatting left and right. There was no way to fix that and so we’ve been mildly embarassed for years about the way our posts appear in your email inboxes.
Substack post forwarding is much cleaner and we can edit any problems with ease. We think you’ll enjoy it much more. So please subscribe over on Substack.
We’ve turned off the old subscription sign-up system. We’ll leave it running for current subscribers until the end of 2026, then retire it.
Why this is better for our paid subscribers
Well, it’s not only better, it’s now the only way to support Pagan Song financially.
Our Patreon account is gone, gone, gone. We depended on Patreon for all our funding. They deleted everything we had set up in Patreon. It’s gone and they will not reinstate us. So we looked around and decided to migrate to Substack in our quest for funding. We don’t even know who you were, oh beloved patrons, because Patreon deleted our supporter list completely. If you see this, please come back! Become a paid subscriber through Substack.
It will be better than it was on Patreon because you get:
- the week’s new post delivered to your mailbox, all clean and sparkly
- bonus material at the end of the weekly post that’s just for our paid supporters
- an extra post each week lovingly selected from our archives just for our paid supporters and sent to your email
- the full range of Substack tools. For example, liking and commenting is much easier than it is on the website and easier than it was on Patreon
- access to the huge community that has moved to Substack to escape the various manifestations of the Evil Online Empire
We had just gotten to the point where your financial support, dear patrons, was enough to cover the costs of paying the writers each week. Now that’s gone.
Please help us keep Pagan Song alive by subscribing to it on Substack. It’s $5 a month or $100 per year. Please subscribe over on Substack and keep this wonderful resource about pagan music afloat.
Check out the Pagan Song Substack
Our introduction to Pagan Song was our first new post on Substack: https://pagansong.substack.com/p/welcome-to-pagan-song-on-substack
Since then we’ve published new or archive posts by Mama Gina, George Nicholas of Cernunnos Rising, Deb of Crow Women, Meren King, Alane Brown, Kellianna and Alexander James Adams. There’s so much more to come!
I’m so sorry to have to plead, but I’m pleading.
Please subscribe to us on Substack. Free subscibers and paid subscribers are both wecome.
FYI: We haven’t turned on the paywall yet. At the moment, the ‘paid’ content is visible to everyone. We’ll turn on the paywall on our Substack feed later this year.
